Quiet Blue releases new haunting single ‘Hollow’

Quiet Blue

Emerging Melbourne based artist Quiet Blue (aka Nic Georgiou) has released a hauntingly beautiful new single ‘Hollow’, showcasing the musician’s unique storytelling through remarkable soundscapes and introspective lyricism. Despite being new to the music scene, releasing his debut single in 2019, Quiet Blue has grown as a musician with this new release drawing focus on the evolution and diversity in his eclectic sound.

Draped in ethereal vocals that feel extremely raw and intimate, Quiet Blue explores darker sounds in ‘Hollow’ that feels quite personal and reflective. Blending swirling synths, soft and mellow keys, slow and steady beats, distorted electric guitar elements, and echoing vocals, this mesmeric tune feels like pure catharsis as we’re transported into a dream state. Although this single is thematically dark, you can’t help but feel a sense of warmth and beauty through the rise and fall of the song as it grasps your imagination through its cinematic quality. Raw and textured, the song beautifully melds together soft acoustic sounds with an electronic climax that brings depth to his music as he brings a strong storytelling element to his track.

Juxtaposing his stunning lyricism with the overall mood of the song, Quiet Blue said, “The words ‘All Night, So Bright’ are repeated during the song with a sonic resonance that starkly contrasts the rest of the song.” His smooth and breezy sounds make ‘Hollow’ feel absolutely effortless, evoking a sense of emotion. Exploring a sense of emptiness, this song is especially pertinent in 2020, embodying the common feeling of confusion and disappointment this year has brought.

Talking about the meaning behind the track the singer, songwriter, and producer said, “Hollow is a song about the feeling of futility that we sometimes get in addressing the world around us. I definitely feel that I’ve tried to fill gaps in my own happiness with things that the world has told me ought to make me content…Sometimes the battles we fight are to no avail and what we thought was important turns out not to be. I wanted to create that hopeful-all-consuming-about-to-burst-with-excitement feeling we all get before something we’ve been looking forward to and then tear it away to accentuate the inherent transience of those feelings.”

‘Hollow’ also comes with an accompanying atmospheric lyric video. Since beginning in 2019, Quiet Blue has shown impressive creativity and flair through his sound, heard through a blend of crisp production, acoustic instrumentation, and electronic elements. With his career only just beginning, we have a feeling this is only the start of a flourishing career for the enigmatic and highly talented Quiet Blue.
