23 October 2020 | 12:33 pm | Claudia Fallon

Hope D has released another emotive single 'Miscommunicate' that ventures through the fragilities of relationships and the struggled of communicating.

Launching into the music scene in 2019 with her debut single 'Swim', Brisbane alt-pop-rock artist Hope D has released another emotive single 'Miscommunicate' that ventures through the fragility of relationships and explores the ways in which we cope or struggle. Creating incredibly relatable music that can be universally felt, this relative newcomer is a free spirit finding inspiration for music as she navigates her own unique path in the world. With a song that is sure to gather even more listeners far and wide, we are graced with her eclectic touch that breathes new life into the Australian alt-pop-rock scene.

Coming face to face with the ghosts of her past relationships, 'Miscommunicate' is a catchy ballad about the struggles of communication between two people, especially when love is involved. Framed by lively guitars, strong percussion, and stirring vocals, this bright and energetic song feels cathartic as we hear Hope D sing through her struggles with a voice that breaks through the pain. Raw and honest, 'Miscommunicate' is a story of self-jeopardisation as communication becomes unbearable in a past relationship. Choosing to let the relationship crumble to avoid sharing her personal feelings, we find commonalities with the music, remembering a time when talking about our emotions felt virtually impossible. Finding a way to resonate with audiences through both lyricism and instrumentals is a real talent that Hope D brings to each of her songs including 'Miscommunicate'. Incredibly forthright and vulnerable, this new music feels like personal growth with this self-aware artist delivering yet another song to guide us through choppy waters onto smooth and steady seas.

Recorded in isolation with Julia Biers on bass, Jenna Goy on drums, and Hugh Middleton on production, Hope D talks about the meaning behind this emotionally charged song saying, "I wrote ‘Miscommunicate’ to try and get attention from my partner at the time. I am not very good with my words when I have to talk, but singing them in this song was my way to communicating how I truly felt at this time in my life. I was purposely miscommunicating in order to get a reaction, and to jeopardize the relationship to deliberately make it bad before I had to talk out my feelings about it."

'Misscomunicate' also comes with an accompanying music video featuring the artist as she goes on dates with her past partner, never seeming to find the courage to communicate her true feelings. The relationship eventually crumbles as we see Hope D left alone at a bar with nothing but regret and sorrow.
