Watch Clea perform a stunning, acoustic version of her single ‘Sugar’

Clea

Indie-pop artist Clea has released a hauntingly beautiful rendition of her track ‘Sugar’. The heartfelt acoustic version of her song was filmed in Queensland’s Scenic Rim by Nick Maguire in her self-built studio, and features both Clea and her partner and producer, Alistar Richardson.

The singer’s new song is a dreamy haze of delicate vocals that are light and airy, lulling you into a state of pure blissfulness. A sense of warmth can be felt with the addition of a wholesome acoustic guitar that lightly strums throughout the song, easing the listener into pure tranquility. ‘Sugar’ holds a deeper meaning that transcends Clea‘s stunningly soulful vocals with the song being born during the 2020 Australian bushfires. Feeling a sense of helplessness and frustration with the lack of meaningful action, ‘Sugar’ explores the singer’s experience grappling with this existential crisis.

Clea explains, “I was overcome with emotion and felt the strongest desire to cower and crawl in the corner. It is the nature of humans turning a blind eye to a situation to save oneself of hurt, but in this instance there was truly no way of hiding.”

“The world is in great pain and the systems in place have failed us, true change is crucial otherwise we can literally kiss it all goodbye,” she continues.

The singer-songwriter hit the music scene in 2016 with her debut single ‘Polyester’ and continued to stun us in 2017 with her first collection of music, releasing her EP Fairweather. Her first major breakthrough came after the release of her debut album Vermillion in 2018 with the song ‘Dreaming’ securing her 2019 Song Of The Year at the Queensland Music Awards. Clea‘s has been busy in 2020 with the release of her two singles ‘Soft Blow To The Head’ and the original version of ‘Sugar’, with this acoustic version of the song following. In the near future, she has a sophomore album in her sights that is sure to feature more incredible music.

This highly talented artist continually creates breathtaking music that holds personal significance and expresses her creative flair and passion. Longing to make music that has a positive creative influence, Clea has created a beautiful new rendition of her song ‘Sugar’ that holds more depth, meaning, and influence with this reimagined acoustic version. We’ll all be eagerly awaiting more new music from the extraordinary Clea.
