Woodes challenges Alice Ivy and Mallrat to Minecraft build battle

18 September 2020 | 2:17 pm | Emma Jones

Woodes has challenged Mallrat and Alice Ivy to a battle for the ages, and it's all going down on Minecraft this Sunday.

We're in strange times right now. Friends can't hang out as we normally would, artists can't tour, we can't dance in public. Because of this, people are gathering in other ways for a sense of community, and the internet is allowing for this in unprecedented ways.

One particular place online many people have been hanging out in virtually is Minecraft. We've seen the likes of CHARLI XCX and 100 gecs perform shows on the platform, and artists create entire worlds for themselves and fans to explore. Indie electronic pop artist Woodes has done exactly this in the lead up to the release of her debut album, Crystal Ball. She's been building a “Crystal Ball village” world on a private Minecraft server with Reuben Gore (who built the famous Splendour Minecraft) for her fans to explore and build along with her. Now, she's going one step further and has challenged two pals to face off in a battle for the ages on the platform.

Alice Ivy and Mallrat will join Woodes on Minecraft this Sunday, where each artist will be designated a plot of land and given a keyword that they then have 1 hour to build in the game. The keyword for this round is "Temple", and the competition will be hosted by none other than Alex Dyson. Going down from 6pm, this will be one of the most wholesome ways to spend your Sunday evening!

A stream will be kicking off from 6pm on Twitch, with the battle set to start at 7pm. You can stream it right HERE.
