Get to Know: HANNAH

Melbourne's HANNAH is making sure we know exactly who she is and what she's about this year with a steady stream of impressive singles out in the world for us to get lost in again and again. We first fell for her back in May when we premiered her debut, 'Sweet & Sour', and now we're set to do it all again with 'I Wanna'. Featuring JAYDEAN, this new single is the perfect track for the warmer months we now find ourselves in, as well as these confusing and isolated times.

All about being inspired by manifestation and dreaming, 'I Wanna' picks up where 'Sweet & Sour' left off in terms of exploring HANNAH's neo-soul/RnB stylings, but this time also sees her infusing some roots and reggae sounds into the mix as well. With a glowing horn section, a shuffling beat and lyrics all about being whisked far away and living it up, 'I Wanna' is a funk-filled jam shows HANNAH still has so much to give. Jaydean's verse is the cherry on top, featuring warm vocals and stunning falsetto before HANNAH kicks back into that earworm hook we just can't get enough of.

Who are you?

Hello! My name is Hannah, my artist project is HANNAH, I’m 21, my star sign is cancer, favourite colour is green, I’m almost always listening to music, I love pears, my favourite person is my mum, and I released a new single a couple weeks ago!

How did HANNAH come to be?

HANNAH came about this year when I released my first single ‘Sweet & Sour’. But the work really started when I finished high school. Since then, I’ve been working with multiple producers, evolving my sound and craft, collaborating with other artists, and really working on my song writing. I kinda just jumped straight in, learned as much as I could from the industry from going to shows, networking and putting myself in the environment that I wanted to be in.

What are we talking, vibes-wise?

Hard to put a name on it. Vibes are forever changing in my music. I like to mix it up, but I always aim to be as real as possible. I’m super excited about my new music that I’m currently working on to come out because it’s quite personal, and I know it has the ability to resonate with people. If I HAD to put a name on it... I'd say a mix of soul/roots/pop.

Tell us more about your new single, ‘I Wanna’?

I wrote ‘I wanna’ at the start of this year, when lockdown happened. It revolves around the idea of daydreaming, and just wanting to live your BEST life. Whilst writing, I was fantasizing about going to South America. My cousin had just got back from there, and from her photos it just looked so so cool, and I wanted to go. After I wrote it, JAYDEAN jumped on the track, and it became something really special.

What can we expect from you in the months ahead?

The plan always changes… BUT right now, expect more music this year, and an EP next year.
