Alison Wonderland ditches the DJ decks for a live band in Lollapalooza livestream

4 August 2020 | 3:28 pm | Emma Jones

Alison Wonderland was one of the many artists tapped for Lollapalooza's livestream festival over the weekend.

As part of LOLLAPALOOZA's livestream festival which went down over the weekend in lieu of their actual 2020 festival, a bunch of artists have delivered exceptional sets to be included in the virtual event. Kaskade, Kali Uchis, Louis The Child and many more all participated, as well as none other than our very own Alison Wonderland.

In a somewhat surprising move, Wonderland ditched the DJ decks in favour of singing live, while flanked by two guys performing live production, drums, guitar and keys.

Kicking things off with her smash hit 'Run', Alison quickly cuts into a very different vibe by covering The Smashing Pumpkins' song, 'Disarm'. Prior to the song, she explains the choice of the cover by saying, “This next song is a really special song to me. It’s one of my all-time favourite songs by one of my all-time favourite bands, The Smashing Pumpkins, from Chicago.”

“I just wanted to do a little ode to Chicago, because Lollapalooza. This song is called ‘Disarm’. It’s the song that got me through high school, so this is for my high school self right now.”

Rounding things out with a brand new, currently-unreleased song titled 'Bad Things', Wonderland's new set up looks to be seriously impressive and gives her already immersive songs a whole new level of depth. Watch the short set below:
