Marie Davidson is set to make the rest of 2020 hers with a new band, a bold new sound and a whole new album on the way.

Marie Davidson is set to make the rest of 2020 hers with a whole stack of good news. Not only has she announced the eagerly anticipated follow up to 2018's breakthrough record, Working Class Woman, she's also unveiled a bold new sound and her new band as well. Now flanked by her husband, Pierre Guerineau and Asaël R. Robitaille, together the trio now form Marie Davidson & L'Œil Nu — and unsurprisingly, still aren't here for your shit.

With their new single, 'Renegade Breakdown', the same Marie we know and love from her previous work is still there, but with a bolder, darker and more formidable edge (if that's even possible). She is so freaking cool on this song, taking no prisoners on the all out pop anthem with a dark edge. The song itself is big, with laser synths, heavy guitars, and a pumping beat. It gets to its moment on its own god damn time, in no rush to get to its powerful hook. When it does, it's hard hitting and uplifting, but almost in an ominous way like you better enjoy it or else. Every single lyric is iconic, with Davidson delivering each and every line and giving it the space it deserves. 'Work It' walked so 'Renegade Breakdown' could run.

Taken from the forthcoming album of the same name out September 25th via Ninja Tune, 'Renegade Breakdown' is all the proof we need to know its Marie Davidson's world and we are just living in it. Dive in below:
