Reddit users have voted for the top 100 dance albums of the decade

Reddit users on the r/electronicmusic subreddit have been busy lately. Compiling a list of the top dance records of the last decade, they've been hard at work voting for the top albums of the last ten years.

At the time of writing, they've not only managed to narrow it down to just 100 records, they've gone one step further and compiled a list of the top 10 as well. While its purely subjective for those who use the subreddit, it does serve as an interesting indication of the last ten years in dance music.

There are of course some heavy hitters, including Calvin Harris, Eric Prydz, Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and The Chemical Brothers, but there are also some somewhat interesting additions in the top 100 list. Flume and RUFUS DU SOL both make multiple appearances, while DJ Koze, SOPHIE, FKA twigs, 100 gecs and Against All Logic also appear. There are records with cult-like followings like Jai Paul's Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) and Darkside's Psychic, as well as records that inspired entire subgenres like Porter Robinson's Worlds, Purity Ring's Shrines, or Grimes' Visions.

One disappointing thing about this list is the lack of diversity across the board. The list is overwhelmingly white and male, and with many producers in this category having multiple entries, one can't help but wonder if we really need three Bonobo records in the mix when artists like Marie Davidson, Robyn, Yaeji, Octo Octa, Honey Dijon and many, many more could've definitely made the cut. While all three Bonobo records are indeed excellent records, having all three in a list of 100, alongside two Caribou records, two Four Tet records, three Flume records, three Odesza records, three Tycho records and two RL Grime records does look a little bit strange when you put into perspective it is meant to be a reflection of ten years of music that originated in
