Live Review: The Space Between Us shares new 'Hybrida' compilation full of Brisbane-based producers

Brisbane based creative collective THE SPACE BETWEEN US has shared a new compilation this week. Titled Hybrida, the compilation is the second of its kind to be released by the collective and serves as a showcase of Brisbane-based electronic talent.

Highlighting a "cross-section of the city's exciting musical fabric," the carefully curated compilation by TSBU's head honcho Hannah D is an eight-track sonic journey through a vast range of sounds. Jae Birch, DJ Relax, Axon Growth Factor, MQN, Wake Up Neo, DJ Speed, Fatshaudi and NORA DRUM all offer up something different from downtempo breaks to trance-infused techno, electro synth-pop to trip-hop.

A key figure in Brisbane's rich, close-knit electronic community, Hannah D's passion for her hometown through her own DJing and through The Space Between Us is always such a pleasure to witness, so it brings us so much joy to see this compilation out in the world. Distilling a city full of so many different communities into just a handful of tracks is not easy, but listening to Hybrida is like a journey through the River City and its vibrant, electric creative atmosphere. It's a testament not only to the artists who contributed their tracks to the compilation, but to Hannah D and the greater Brisbane community for remaining resilient in a time of great uncertainty. As Brisbane gets ready to slowly and steadily open back up after months of lockdown, its records like this that show that the way forward is one that is exciting and diverse.

The Space Between Us are also leading by example and have committed to donating all proceeds of Hybrida to Seed Mob, an indigenous organisation fighting for climate action. Check it out below:
