DJ Boring will be on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix

This week, DJ BORING is set to release his new EP, Like Water. Out June 12th on Ninja Tune's Technicolour, the globe-trotting DJ and producer gave us the first taste of the record with the title track last month which we described as "percussive heaven". Now, DJ Boring is a man with many achievements under his belt, but this weekend marks a particularly special moment for the producer in that he is the next up for BBC Radio 1's hallowed Essential Mix. A fitting accolade for a producer who continues to shine so brightly in all he does, this is a big moment for DJ Boring.

However, the world continues to grapple with the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent global protests against systemic racism and brutality in law enforcement after the murder of George Floyd by a police officer. In a post on social media, DJ Boring noted the times we find ourselves in and acknowledged that it feels particularly strange to be promoting something like a new release or a new mix — even if it is perhaps the world's most iconic mix series.

"It’s hard to decide whether posting anything at the moment is the right thing to do, but this is something that I have been waiting for some time now," he wrote to fans. "I’m happy to announce that I will be contributing to the next essential mix that is due to air on the 13th of June at 1am."

"I’ve asked a lot of my friends to contribute to this mix, so I’m very excited to use this platform to showcase their new or unreleased music. I hope you all enjoy it!"

DJ Boring's Essential Mix will air this weekend at 1am on June 13th, which is 10am June 14th in Australia. DJ Boring's new EP, Like Water, is out June 12th via Technicolour.
