If you’re not already familiar with Sydney party crew Velodrome, now’s the time to immerse yourself. Despite the inability to bring ‘Big Unce Energy’ to the masses with one of their beloved parties or raves, their commitment to the cause continues with their newly established label and the launch of their latest release, ’Zoom Dates’.

‘Zoom Dates’ is the debut single from one of Velodrome’s very own comrades, Posture - and in typical fashion, it’s a certified banger. The rumbling bassline and murky soundscape is punctuated and brightened by cheeky, hypnotic vocals in an ode to the unique ways in which we’ve had to adapt our nightlife (and methods of socialising) to a new way of living. Funnily enough, it would thrive regardless of whether it’s turned up loud in a dark bedroom or thrown down in a heaving club by Sydney superstars like Jensen Interceptor.

The release is beefed up by four seismic remixes by Velodrome family and friends, staying in touch through music in isolation. The mysterious Unpin returns with a trademark high octane, breakbeat heavy cut, after christening the label with his ‘Soy Piccolo’ release. Wack J plays with ethereal, trippy sounds and a slick, UK bass inspired rhythm, whilst eden777 lends a more introspective, IDM flavoured take. Rounding off the release is DJ Dolmade’s warm, spacious soundscape, an uplifting roller with lush, otherworldly bounce.

There’s something for everyone in this release, and ‘Zoom Dates’ is not only a stellar debut from Posture, but a confident assertion of the entire Velodrome family’s versatility and necessity in Sydney’s underground music scene.
