22 April 2020 | 3:54 pm | Emma Jones

Shot while Sampa The Great was creating her ARIA-award winning 2019 album, 'The Return', the rapper will be sharing a short film of her journey.

It's a good day for Sampa The Great fans. The Melbourne-based rapper has announced that tonight at 11pm AEST, she'll be premiering a short film titled The Return, and after the film finishes she'll be sitting down for a live Q&A session with fans.

Sharing the same name as her ARIA-award winning album released last year, The Return is a moment-by-moment reflection on the powerful musical and personal evolution behind the record. Created from the time where the concept began to take shape while in her home country of Zambia to the collaborative sessions while making the record in Melbourne, it's been described as depicting a "journey to self-rediscovery" in an accompanying press statement.

Sharing the news with fans on social media, Sampa wrote in a caption, "Since we’re homebound Ive been thinking of my home a lot!"

"Last year home wasn’t a constant for me with the making of the album and everything to do with it. Luckily we managed to capture the journey and made into a short film!"
