Want to collab with Flume? Now's your chance thanks to triple j Unearthed

triple j Unearthed have unveiled a new competition that gives artists the chance to make music with samples and loops from Flume, Tame Impala and more.

triple j Unearthed have announced today a new competition called "DIY Supergroup". The comp will give young artists the chance to collaborate with some of Australian music's biggest names, such as Tame Impala, Flume, Tash Sultana, The Jungle Giants, Middle Kids, Amy Shark, Tkay Maidza and/or G Flip.

Each of these acts have offered samples and loops to be used by artists in their own original works.

"Damn right, we’re talking about a guitar loop from Kevin Parker, Tkay Maidza bars, some signature Harley Streten sounds or a drum fill from G Flip," triple j Unearthed said on their website.

The samples and loops are available for download now, and artists have until midnight AEST on Sunday 17th of May to upload their entry to the Unearthed artist page. To be eligible, artists must use at least three samples in the pack. "[S]ing over them, rap over them, create massive beats or do something we’ve never heard before," Unearthed said. Oh, and be sure to include #DIYSupergroup in the song title so it's easily found by the team!

From here, finalists will be announced on triple j Breakfast with Sally & Erica throughout the week starting May 18th, with the winner to be announced in the following week.

In an accompanying statement from triple j, a representative said, “As everyone’s at home in isolation, it’s changing the whole game when it comes to artist collaborations. With triple j Unearthed’s DIY Supergroup, we’re bringing the collaborators to you."

“We can’t wait to hear what you come up with!”
