Sydney's well-loved Moonshoe Records return with another release and this time it's a debut EP from Jackson Fester (aka COUSIN) titled A Message from Q.

COUSIN is the solo project of artist Jackson Fester who is also one half of the collaborative duo Freda & Jackson, a reputable force in a new generation of producers across the scene through their careful curations, versatile creative output and forward-thinking role in community culture.

A Message From Q channels COUSIN's microscopic focus into a series of otherworldly rhythmic works that are both heady and psychedelic excursions. The EP is an apt introduction into the eyes of COUSIN, dense with bubbling rhythms and visceral hypnotic sub lines, all whilst keeping it covertly club functional.

Loaded with basslines, deep psychedelic outings and well-chopped syncopated breaks, A Message From Q is an exciting debut release from the Sydney producer. Each track is loaded with emotional undertones of driving rhythms, synth cuts and deep dubwise reflections, although it still touches on the narrative inspirations showcased in Freda & Jackson's back catalogue of spacious abstract energy.

Moonshoe Records has become a residence for raw takes on house and down-tempo grooves, and this release layers itself with a smoked out haze that is something to be reckoned with. The label has thrived as their own distinctive brand, putting out music from some impressive Australian artists, including Zen In Space, Air Space Ark and Horatio Luna.

A Message From Q is out now via Bandcamp.
