PREMIERE: Nardean kicks off a new era in style with ‘weightless’

In a world constantly filled with chaos and anxiety, it can be hard to remind ourselves to stop and readjust our focus back onto ourselves. Thankfully, Sydney’s NARDEAN makes her return this week with a brand new single that asks us to do exactly that, and Purple Sneakers is thrilled to be premiering this today. Titled ‘weightless’, this new single is the first from a forthcoming EP fittingly titled THE NEW ERA. Following on from her 2018 EP, Creatress, which saw her explore her Arabic roots and Australian upbringing through poetry, rap and melody, she’s now set to start a fresh chapter and is kicking things off in style.

‘weightless’ is exactly that – a light, breezy moment for you to stop and take a breathe in. From gentle atmospherics to twinkling keys and Nardean‘s honeyed vocals, it’s the perfect combination to breathe in light and love and breathe out anything weighing you down. The accompanying visuals only add to this, with Nardean starring in the light-hearted, colourful and positive clip, spreading love throughout the streets of Sydney’s Marrickville.

Nardean said to Purple Sneakers of the new single, “Honestly, this chorus has become somewhat of a mantra for me. I like to create music that reminds me of all the things I’ve studied and learnt about being a human. Whenever I feel myself getting jealous or resentful or even just straight up mad at other people, I think to myself… “thats all I can do… I focus on me and send love to you.” There’s no use sweating the small stuff, or spending your energy worrying about what others are doing. It’s such a good reminder to just chill out, work on bettering myself while also wishing the best for everyone else too.”

Working with Stackhat for production duties on this new EP, Nardean enters a new beginning and in doing so really comes into her own. ‘weightless’ marks the start of what is sure to be Nardean‘s most exciting chapter yet!

‘Weightless’ is out on Friday February 28 through Ditto Music.
