Live Review: Didirri shares new video, announces national tour

30 January 2020 | 12:06 pm | Emma Jones

Singer-songwriter, Didirri returns with a new single 'Raw Stuff' and announces a single tour across the country in April 2020.

Australian singer-songwriter and possessor of amazing hair, DIDIRRI is back today with a whole lot of good news for fans. Following on from his 2019 single, 'Blue Mood Rising', he's sharing a deep, sombre cut, a stunning accompanying video, and the news that he's heading out on tour latest this year.

Titled 'Raw Stuff', the video's emotional quality is compounded by the harrowing fact it was filmed in rural Victoria just weeks before bushfires ravaged the area. It's a time capsule and testament to the incredible bushland lost over this particularly devastating bushfire season. The song itself is an intimate affair, and a deeply personal account of miscommunication and the fallout that ensued.

Explaining the song, Didirri wrote, "For the first time in my life, I was skipping Christmas. I was feeling very, very guilty about it... Raw Stuff instantly fell into two parts. The first half is my side of miscommunication, and the second my reaction to hearing they felt the same."

"I wrote this song as a dedication to a dear person in my life. In performance, ‘Raw stuff’ cuts close to the bone for me. It’s a difficult song to sing, both emotionally taxing and physically. It is a moment for reflection."

Deciding to share the song with the world (and also choosing it to perform at Eurovision: Australia Decides on February 8th), Didirri said it's now for "anyone else who is trying to process what’s happening in their life," and will be a particularly beautiful part of his upcoming shows.
