3 June 2019 | 8:20 pm | Holly O'Neill

featuring mixes from Index, MSH + more

Welcome back to our weekly segment where we pluck the best mixes from all over the web and the world, bundle ’em together and call it PS Selected. Whether it was whipped up last week or last year, if it’s worth listening to it’s bound to be featured as Holly O’Neill takes you through the hours and hours of quality mixes uploaded across the net by big and small selectors alike.

This weeks mixes from INDIA JORDAN, MSH, TERIYAKI MAMI, INDEX and ARMA are set to gee you all the way up. With everything from hard drum to footwork to rap to euphoric 4x4, these are my fave mixes I've stumbled upon this week, and you're sure to love them too.

One of our gorgeous sub-editors Michael Stratford Hutch is not only a passionate writer, but a very thoughtful producer and DJ. In this mix of "bass n percs n club n tech", MSH rides and reshapes a percussive rhythm across an hour packed with metallic sound design and syncopated hip shaking beats. Making links between vogue, drum tracks, acid house and sparse club, it's consistent 130bpm and high energy vibes make it feel like sonic shot of caffeination.

Subreddit CxD is a home to "producers, DJs and club fanatics" that makes a space for the plethora of genres that get grouped together and called Club Music. Their most recent artist spotlight mix is Arma, a UK producer bundling club pastiche with the energy of dance house and UK Funky. Inspired across the board by baltimore club, afrobeats and grime, a consistent bouncing energy keeps the mix cohesive and makes for a super fun """club music""" set.

FBi Radio's Dance Class program run by Andy Garvey, seeks to empower femme individuals in the Sydney music scene by giving them the tools to select, DJ, host and produce radio and run a club night. This years graduate class includes Index, a selector with a taste for the niche who's influenced by everything from flighty footwork and experimental grime. Her graduating mix on Spin The Bottle shows the breadth of her music knowledge, as she connects rolling ambient tracks with clubby house and hellraising breaks.

Alongside her debut release DNT STP MY LV, India Jordan has delivered a pumping guest mix for Dummy Mag. Indicative of the bombastic, four to the floor energy of the release, the mix blends forward thinking dance compositions that lean on driving percussion and euphoric sampling and melodies. Full of classic jungle influences and trancey synthesis, Jordan describes her own mix as "a reflection of the type of set I’d play in a club: lots of breaks and high energy tunes".

Melbourne based shoe boutique Sole Finess not only had great taste in women's sneakers, but also femme DJ talent! Their mix series For the Honeys features some of Australia's best RnB/Rap selectors, including Sydney's own Teriyaki Mami. Filled with empowering anthems that'll make you want to shake your ass and get on your grind, it's half an hour of rap's hottest up and comers and underground stars that are all women and all powerful.
