Live Review: PREMIERE: LOVER brings evocative vocality to Evangeline's 'The Strangest Thing'

It wasn't long ago that Victorian based artist EVANGELINE shared her smashing single, 'The Strangest Thing' with us. Drawing on a journey through love and loss, the electro-pop track calls on lush production to paint a textural picture using Evangeline's highly distinct vocals as the brush.

We mentioned in our coverage of the track a few weeks back that there was an alternate version floating around with LOVER, and we're stoked to say that we've got the first taste of this new version right here!

LOVER debuted last year with 'Eagle To The Prey' and since then, it's been all guns blazing for him, most recently with a feature on Oh Boy's debut EP, Brentwood Heights. His addition and contribution to 'The Strangest Thing' is an incredibly apt one, his vocal style working complimentary to Evangeline's.

He joins the track for the second verse, offering up smooth pop vocals and in the chorus, providing the perfect foil for Evangeline's song voice. Their voices in harmony are smooth yet distinct, bringing out the best in each other's sound.

It's a match made in heaven, and one we're very glad has seen the light of day. This alternative version allows Evangeline's voice and songwriting abilities to shine in a new way that's been drawn out purely through both collaboration and reimagination.
