Live Review: Body Promise announce 'Smooth Sensation', share 'Workers' by Emily Glass
Iconic Sydney DJ-ing duo Body Promise have announced 'Smooth Sensation', their third and final compilation championing Aussie underground music.
Sydney legends BODY PROMISE have announced their third and final release in their compilation series that spotlights iconic and emerging underground electronic artists from across Australia. Titled SMOOTH SENSATION, and releasing both digitally and on cassette, the compilation features cuts from Lucy Cliché, Andy Garvey, DJ Yoni, Freda & Jackson and countless more. With the announcement they've shared a taste of what's to come with 'Workers' by Adelaide producer EMILY GLASS.
An FBi radio show, a DJ-ing duo and now a label, Body Promise plays a huge role in Australia's underground electronic scene. SMOOTH SENSATION comes after FANTASTIC EFFECTS and HARMONY FROM A DOMINANT HUE, two compilations that highlighted just how diverse and revolutionary our underground music scene truly is. In a time where it seems like the future of Sydney's music is under threat, Body Promise show there's plenty of life, love and beats to go around.
Our first glimpse of the compilation comes from Emily Glass, who brings us an ever-evolving ambient work that at times sounds like a communication from a far-away race of enlightened beings. The track swiftly melts from calm, fantasy-like sounds and twinkling melodies, to abstract percussive samples and far-away synths. It morphs sounds in such a way that it feels like it's metamorphosing organically, kind of like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly and back over and over again over a five minute period. It's a perfect taste of what's sure to be a ripper of a send off for Body Promise's VA series.

Compilations like these are fantastic both for avid listeners like me, and budding producers and creators like the folks featured on SMOOTH SENSATION. I get to experience a sweet new artist I might not have known about otherwise, and these artists get some much needed electro-clout that gets them some well deserved recognition.
