Microwave’s guest mix is full of glitzy disco & deep house
Sydney pocket rocket/producer/DJ MICROWAVE‘s been cutting her teeth in clubs across town for a hot minute now. With her signature blend of glitzy disco cuts paired with booming deep house, she’s commanded dancefloors across town with crews like Lazy Susan, Spaghetti Western, Comfy Grrl, Canned Fruit and more.
She’s also been chipping away at honing her production skills, and last year she graced us with a split release, ‘Run’/’In Love’. ‘Run’ pairs woozy pads with classic bouncy house keys, scat vocal samples and a punchy kick to bring it all home. It’s upbeat, sunny and the best way to kick off the split release.
‘In Love’ delves into more atmospheric territory, with a jazzy saxophone-esque synth crooning atop the keys. It’s one for the later stages in the night, with darker shades coming through this one and rounding it all out perfectly.
She’s used the two tracks to explore two ultimately juxtaposing sides to her sound, but the textures explored in the tracks’ deliveries are cohesive and ultimately unifying. There’s a larger body of work on the way from her to be expected later on in the year, so stay tuned!
We’ve been fans of Microwave for a hot minute here at PS so we thought it only fitting to get her on the guest mix for our radio show on FBi Radio! Airing last Saturday, she’s put together 20 minutes of dancefloor power. Strap on your best kicks and get moving! Take a listen below and be sure to tune into Purple Sneakers on FBi Radio every Saturday at 5-6PM AEDT locally at 94.5FM or DAB+ or online at fbiradio.com.
