Luke Alessi's top tracks to play out in a DJ set

28 February 2019 | 2:08 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

There's good reason you'd be seeing artists from Wollongong based label Unknown Records popping up on dancefloors all across town, and that's because the label hosts a roster of artists who are straight up killing it. Legends like NyxenSomersaultHorowitz and Made In Paris have found themselves contributing to the label, and the standard of techno coming from the label feels world class.

Another producer they've got on board more recently is Luke Alessi. He put out his debut EP last year titled Beneath The Veil and since then has been hard at work putting together the follow-up.

2019's seen him come out with a new body of work titled Moon In Scorpio. The two-tracker kicks off with the title number, a slow-burning melodic techno number that chuggs along as a hypnotic blend of enchanting light synths and a percussive line that never once becomes intrusive.

The B-side sees him giving Nyxen's 'Chains' a different spin, taking the radio hit further down into the club for a heavy-hitting deep house number.

We can guarantee that with a two-tracker like this, Alessi's got some belters hidden in his DJ sets, so he's put together a couple of tracks that he likes to play out on the dancefloor.

Uppercent - Caos

Just a huge romper that you want to stomp your feet in the dust too. Crazy, chunky, organic sounds and vocal fills that make no sense but make perfect sense… And that first drop.

HOSH & Tone Depth - Express

Fat hitting basslines, rolling arps, melodic emotional break downs and a filthy synth fill before the drop…What more could you want?

Anna – Impressions

When you want to speed up the dancefloor and really get everyone moving. Those quick piano chord stabs hit you just where you want them. Nice emotion in an otherwise techno tune with those epic pads and arp.

Christoph – Alone

A classic progressive tune thrown in for that nostalgic vibe. A killer vocal to sing along to, evokes all the feels towards the tail end of a set!

Luke Alessi – Moon in Scorpio

I guess I have to play something of mine at some stage right? Haha
