Trfk’s new single ‘Rain In October’ combines strong feels & sounds
After what can only be described as a sonic overhaul and momentary hiatus, Adelaide-based producer TRFK has released ‘Rain In October’ featuring fellow Adelaidean talent ELK. Simultaneously upbeat and laid back, the track oozes effortless cool with ELK’s smooth rhymes injecting and extra hit of swagger to the mix. It’s the second single release for (the new and improved) Trfk this year following ‘Are U With Me?’, a dreamy and equally as swaggy single featuring the vocal stylings of artist Roxanne. Both have been songs touching on themes of budding love, relationships and starting fresh, thoughtfully spun into a playful beat to make the big feels more approachable to us mere men and women.
The project and moniker of twenty year old Alex Cooper, Trfk is a burst of fresh sound in the South Australian scene, drawing influence from a variety of genres including house, dance, hip-hop and jazz to deliver a non categorical strain of music that is truly futuristic. Cited influences for Trfk include Kaytranada, Mura Masa and Australia’s own Flume and What So Not, so clearly Cooper has set the target high from the get go and given it 100 percent (or as Kaytranada might say, 99.9%… I’m sorry I had to.)
To accompany the release of ‘Rain In October’, Trfk has unveiled some pretty edgy single artwork my another Adelaide creative, Henry Jarman, showing some serious commitment to and support for the Adelaide arts community. Team work makes the dream work and it’s great to see the hard work pay off! It’s clearly been a massive year and just the beginning of big things for Trfk.
