Tiana Khasi delves deep into her tour essentials

23 October 2018 | 8:17 am | Caitlin Medcalf

Brissy's TIANA KHASI is no stranger to belting out a number here or there. She's racked up countless streams and made waves singing and working with acts like SampologyGolden Vessel and The Kite String Tangle.

She's just released her debut single 'Nuketown' via Soul Has No Tempo, and if you've managed to experience her sound live, you'd understand just how accurate that recording is. There's power in her voice, and a track like 'Nuketown' captures that in its totality and in the most appropriate way possible.

She's about to head out to support labelmate Laneous at their Melbourne and Brisbane shows, so we thought it would be fitting to see what it is she can't live without on tour.

1. Instant Miso

On a plane, in a green room, a random persons' kitchen.. I always keep a few sachets of this fermented goodness with me for instant comfort and sustenance (also a great hangover cure).. If I'm on tour I'm probably on a tight, non existent budget and hot water is always free!

2. One pair of the BEST fitting pants

The 'Jen' pant, made by my dear friend Evie from Genkstasy. I wear them for most gigs and photo/video shoots, including the Nuketown film clip. I try to pack light and just take versatile pieces that fit well and are fun to wear.

3. Good Company

Solid crew chemistry is essential! Mr Rohan Seekers (resident Khasi band keys player) is an integral member of the touring party, he knows ALL the good food spots in any city.

4. Community Radio

Whenever I'm driving through a new city I try to tune into the community radio station/s. It's good way to show some love to the community and get a heads up on local gigs.

5. 24hr Food (& Pool) Joint

Perfect for post-gig kick ons. A city is only as good as its 24hr food spots - added bonus if there are pool tables!

6. Offline Playlist

If I'm organised I'll prepare some offline playlists to avoid a crazy phone bill and keep me covered with music on flights. I've recently made a Spotify playlist of my favourite Brisbane artists you can download and get a acquainted with if you're ever planning to tour through the river city.
