Ride into the sunset with Groove City

17 September 2018 | 9:37 am | Staff Writer

In a gold Chevrolet, Groove City offer up their ultimate songs to ride off into the sunset.

If you like CHROMEO or TOTAL GIOVANNI, or if you wish you were born in another era where disco reigned supreme, GROOVE CITY are for you. The Sydney duo are on a mission to bring disco back in a big way, and with slapping basslines, dramatic vocals and crisp drums, they're doing a damn fine job.

We've been following them for a little while now, since the release of 'Let's Not (Do This Again)' and its over-the-top-in-all-the-right-ways drama, like a crooning band at a blue light disco. Now they're putting the pedal to the metal in their 'Gold Chevrolet', sounding like they're right out of 1979 with their new single. All about expensive taste, burning up dancefloors and overflowing champagne, Groove City are the smoothest duo around right now, and they're making big moves to prove it.

Having just signed to Maker Agency, they're currently on tour across the country, culminating in a hyped set at Lost Paradise to end their year in style. Set to deliver even more stellar baby makin' tunes next year, Groove City are well and truly riding into the sunset in style so, to get to know them a little better, we asked them their top five tunes to soundtrack exactly that. Check out Groove City's top five songs to ride off into the sunset (in a gold Chevrolet) of course, and keep your eyes peeled - these guys are gonna be big!

Steely Dan - Night by Night

Classic 70s tune with a banging riff, tight harmonies and a half time beat perfect for head bopping on your cruise toward the horizon

Parcels - Tied Up Right Now

A perfect example of shimmery modern disco that feels good from start to finish. Makes us want to take our clothes off and head straight to the beach.

Midnight Star - Night Rider

Another vintage classic with a bassline that gives off steamy getaway vibes after a successful car chase scene.

Leila - Miami Horror (LA Felix remix)

This remix has all the electro funk ingredients to get anyone in the mood and groove to a perfect holiday getaway.

Escort - Cocaine Blues (Turbo Suit Remix)

If the saying "hair of the dog" could be a song this would be it. Perfect for shaking off the dust, jump back into the car and heading to the next destination.
