Live Review: PREMIERE: Thaylia infuses electronica with soul on 'Waiting'

25 September 2018 | 9:09 am | Emma Jones

We last heard from THAYLIA over a year ago, when she released 'I Can't Fly' in January, 2017. However, she's hardly been on holiday since then. No, she's been hard at work creating her debut EP, honing her sound, working with PAUL MAC (just casually) and even mentoring at ALL GIRL ELECTRONIC. Now, we finally have the first taste of her efforts with 'Waiting', an electronic infused soulful song that shows THAYLIA is ready to take on the world.

Her debut EP, Into My Soul, follows the theme that "if there was such a 'Great Being' that existed that was only loving, what would it be like to be loved by them? What would they want to say to us? And what would their feelings be towards us?" So, with her new single, 'Waiting', it opens this up, detailing that it is in fact Love waiting for you with open arms, but it'll only find you if you're ready for it.

Harnessing future bass sound signatures while keeping THAYLIA's soulful voice in tact, 'Waiting' carefully balances the organic with the industrial as the original vocals absolutely soar over a summer-ready beat, complete with big drops and bouncing synths. It's an exciting move from an artist who is really coming into her own, and with her debut EP slated for release in November, we can't wait to hear more.
