On the verge of release day, KITO has built even more hype for her upcoming album HAANI with the drop of her new genre blending single 'Strawberries'

On the verge of release day, KITO has built even more hype for her incoming EP, HAANI, with the drop of her new single, 'Strawberries'. The Perth born producer has linked up with vocalists ELLE DUHÉ, TRINIDAD JAMES and KODIE SHANE for a trap-tinged ode to the good times. Ahead of her EP's release we see Kito's approach to production, as she fuses nu-pop, rap and dance elements with ease.

Where her last track placed her front and centre, on 'Strawberries' Kito lets her production shine under her collaborators contributions. Woozy pads and stuttering percussion lead a sparse soundscape, balancing delicate melodies and negative space with huge kicks and metallic whirring. Duhé, James and Shane all bring an addictive energy to the track, simultaneously channeling badass and laid back at the same time.

Menacing synth basslines and whacked out vocal chops echo against the space of the rest of the track, imposing their scope on the listening. For a song with such a dark trap tone, the image of strawberries is pretty wholesome and behind that future RnB vibe is a track about just spending time with a loved one. The intoxicating feel of the track was explained by Kito as "getting lost in a cloud with someone you care about, and enjoying that moment in time with no worry for the past or future".

Kito's fusion of pop, rap and dance comes to full crystallisation on 'Strawberries', and no doubt will be further cemented on her new EP, HAANI. Her grand vision and fresh blending of genres mixed with the collaborative efforts of TARA CAROSIELLI, SHY GIRL, HUDSON MOHAWKE and BROODS on the tracks to come is set to be a stunning re-introduction to Kito.

HAANI is out September 7.
