For the past two years, we have celebrated turning another year older as an official part of VIVID SYDNEY, and while this year we're doing it again, we're doing things a little differently.

If you've been to one of our parties either last year or in 2016, you'll remember lines around the block, jam-packed dancefloors and some of the most exciting emerging artists from around the country. We've had the likes of CHRISTOPHER PORT, NINAJIRACHI, WILLARIS. K, WORLD CHAMPION, MEZKO, LASTLINGS and more perform, as well as had the help of our friends and communities such as I OH YOU, ASTRAL PEOPLE, STONEY ROADS, HEAPS GAY, LINDA MARIGLIANO, UNDR CTRL, VOLUMES and plenty more help bring the party vibes.

This year marks Purple Sneakers' twelfth birthday, and we're throwing our biggest party yet. Moving over to the iconic Sydney institution, The Lansdowne, we're excited to announce our full venue takeover across two stages with some of our very favourite acts.

Purple Sneakers’ managing editor, Emma Jones, said that this represents another milestone for the online publication. “Purple Sneakers is an integral part of the Australian music community, particularly within dance and club music, and its exciting to be able to continue celebrating another year of backing emerging artists in conjunction with Vivid Sydney. This year’s line up features some of our absolute favourite artists for the past few years, and they’re all much loved within our community so it will be very special to celebrate our birthday alongside them.”

On the move to The Lansdowne, Purple Sneakers’ founder Martin Novosel said, “The inner west is something of a spiritual home for Purple Sneakers. So when the team decided that it was time to upgrade the live music production at our annual event it was only natural to move the event from The Gladstone to The Lansdowne, another iconic inner west venue that has a rich heritage in live music. Plus it’s a stones throw from where it all started 12 years ago on Broadway.”

On the night, we'll have live performances from RAINBOW CHAN, ALTA, THANDI PHOENIX, ANNIE BASS, CLYPSO and SLIM SET, as well as very special DJ sets from DRO CAREY and LOVE DELUXE. We'll also be joined by our very special friends, ALL MY FRIENDS DJS and SWYTCH DJS as well as local heroes SANDRO DALLARMI, SPORTS, LEX DELUXE, ISA and of course, the newly launched #NextGeneration of PURPLE SNEAKERS DJS.

Kicking off from 6pm on the final Saturday of Vivid, June 16th, this year will be a ticketed event so jump over to Oztix now to get yours. Purple Sneakers Twelfth Birthday is proudly presented by world renowned institution, Vivid Sydney, as well as Sydney's FBi Radio, which we've been broadcasting on for the past four years, both on their digital station, FBi Click and now on the main channel, FBi Radio.
