Live Review: Alice Ivy introduces us to her favourite female producers

6 February 2018 | 11:57 am | Molly McLaughlin

Ahead of the release of her anticipated debut album and a national headline tour, Alice Ivy has rounded up some of her fave female producers in Australia.

Melbourne-based producer ALICE IVY has a penchant for catchy electro/hip-hop beats and dreamy, hypnotic choruses, both in her own work and the songs she loves. From the early days of her formative singles back in 2015 and 2016 such as 'Touch' and 'Almost Here' to now, as a fully-fledged producer on the verge of releasing her debut album, Ivy has carved out her own space as a powerful force thanks to her innovative, other-worldly production and forward-thinking songwriting.

After relentlessly touring and playing at key festivals, Alice Ivy has turned herself into one of the country's most exciting emerging artists, and now on the eve of the release of her album, it really feels like she's on the verge of truly breaking through.

Ahead of the release of her anticipated debut album, I'm Dreaming, and a national headline tour, Ivy has rounded up some of her fave female producers in Australia to get you tapping your feet and wiggling your hips.

"I wanted to shine a light on some of the hardworking female producers making top quality music in Australia that too often get overlooked in a male-dominated sphere," she explained. From NINAJIRACHI to EILISH GILLIGAN, NYXEN to FEELSIvy really has her finger on the pulse when it comes to these picks! Check it all out below.

Ninajirachi

I reckon Ninajirachi is one of the most underrated producers in Australia. 'Pure Luck' especially is so colourful and interesting. Can’t wait to see what she does next!

Fazerdaze

OK this one's a Kiwi... but I love this band so much! It blows my mind that Amelia wrote and produced the debut Fazerdaze record in her bedroom in New Zealand. It's beautiful.

Nyxen

I got to know Nyxen on the Listen Out Festival tour last year. Not only she is a total legend, she’s also a badass producer making waves in Australia.

Eilish Gilligan

Eilish did a beautiful remix of Lorde’s 'Homemade Dynamite' late last year, but her latest single 'S.M.F.Y' is a real standout. It’s so synth rich and pop driven, what’s not to like about that combination?

Feels

These guys are doing amazing things in Perth around production classes for women, and their music is also really beautiful.

Mookhi

Mookhi’s beats are insane! Have you listened to this??!

Beatrice

Beatrice is doing amazing things in this country. I find her really inspirational, as a producer and as a role model for young female producers. Beatrice produces for Kardajala Kirridarra, Haiku Hands and her own solo project.

Saatsuma

Memphis from Saatsuma has a great ear for production and synthesis, I should know, we share a studio! Saatsuma are also great live.
