Live Review: PREMIERE: Rebel Yell and Yaws keep it in the family with club banger 'Collapsing In'

Over Christmas, musical siblings YAWS and REBEL YELL managed to produce a techno jam called 'Collapsing In' that will have you feeling the heat.

While the rest of us were fighting over the last slice of pavlova during the Christmas period, recent siblings YAWS and REBEL YELL managed to produce a techno jam called 'Collapsing In' that will have you feeling the heat. Producer Yaws is usually based in London, while Rebel Yell calls Brisbane home, but the pair had the opportunity to work together at home during the holidays, with a little help from Brisbane/NYC techno duo, Multiple Man. That's one hell of a Christmas project!

‘Collapsing in’ takes cues from early techno, hinting at artists from the 1980s European new wave like DAF and Front 242. It is gloriously heavy on sticky synths, relentless bass and robotic-style distorted vocals. However, the track keeps it contemporary and casual with tropical vibes and guest vocals from Multiple Man's Sean Campion.

"It was a very relaxed process that took form early on," explains Grace Stevenson (aka Rebel Yell). "So we thought it’d be nice get it finished in time to begin the new year with a one off collaboration in the lead up to releases from all three of the artists involved."

Rebel Yell will release a new mini album with Rice is Nice in April, while new tracks from both Yaws and Multiple Man are also in the pipeline. Hopefully, another collaboration from all three will come sooner then next Christmas. Until then, this little morsel of techno goodness will have to tide you over.
