Live Review: Fresh Hex invites you to his hellishly 'Big Party'

6 November 2017 | 8:59 am | Holly O'Neill

Fresh Hex bursts back onto the scene with 'Big Party', channeling demonic bass and bouncy energy into a dancefloor ready track with a devilish twist

After some time out of the spotlight, Melbourne producer FRESH HEX is back in a big way. Bursting back onto the scene with a huge new single, 'Big Party' sees Fresh Hex channeling demonic bass and bouncy energy into a dancefloor ready track with a devilish twist. The track is a personal invitation to his "firey party set in the flaming pits of hell."

The twinkling saccharine soundscapes the producer is known for are replaced with crispy percussion and warped synth work. There's still a bit of that Fresh Hex flavour we know and love in the bubbling samples and playful vocal chops, but the density of the bass and four to the floor beat flip our expectations on their head.

On this track, Fresh Hex has mastered gearing us up for the drops, building off sparse percussion or delicate bells to hold tension that's released with huge wall of frantic melodies and layered chords. These dense drops feature giant hits of bass, synths, pads, violin like plucks, and detuned bells all together to create waves of club euphoria.
