Iranian-Dutch artist SEVDALIZA has unveiled a special release single, ‘Mad Woman’, which was released as part of the beloved Adult Swim Singles program earlier this month.

The singer, songwriter, director and composer has made a distinct impression with her self-released debut and sophomore EPs, The Suspended Kid and Children of Silk, which earned her the attention of press and music enthusiasts worldwide. Sevdaliza has most recently released her debut full-length record, Ison, earlier this year, resulting in a received a fresh wave of praise and a sold-out headline tour through Europe and the US.

This surprise new offering further evokes our affinity with Sevdaliza's candid compositions as she intrepidly explores the complex facets of the human condition through unique experimental lo-fi creations, establishing this enigmatic atmosphere that is also expansive, harmonic and deeply emotive.

‘Mad Woman’ opens with near-cinematic introduction of distorted tubular bells and warbling synths, establishing a luscious bed of lo-fi tones for Sevdaliza’s melancholic visceral voice to graze over. This soundscape encircles a substratum of nostalgic and spacious 1980’s styled tones, vivaciously navigated by thumping triphop dubs mixed with symphonic harmonies that steadily build into a foreboding yet unperturbed climax.

We can joyfully say that Sevdaliza will be gracing our golden soils in January 2018, performing at Sugar Mountain in Melbourne, with hopefully some other shows thrown in the mix. We highly recommend that you do take the chance to see her while she is showcasing a more intimate curation of performances - we have a feeling she'll need bigger venues in the near future.

In the meantime, be sure to check out more of Sevdaliza's releases on her website and keep up to date with her tour dates here, as they unfurl.
