Live Review: Miss Blanks teams up with Moonbase to school the 'Skinny Bitches'

9 October 2017 | 11:20 pm | Holly O'Neill

MISS BLANKS enlists MOONBASE on production for 'Skinny Bitches', a thick girl anthem that tears down Eurocentric beauty standards and body shaming.

We keep saying it and she keeps proving it, MISS BLANKS is killing the game. Her ethos of femme empowerment, shameless sexuality and body positivity in her presentation and lyrics has made waves in the Australian music scene. The rapper has crushed it at Bigsound, stormed the stage of Listen Out in her hometown of Brisbane and landed a spot on next year's Laneway Festival lineup. And this is all within less than a year after the release of her very first single, phew!

All this attention has lead to her recent signing to club producer MOONBASE's imprint Trench Records. Together the two have linked up for 'Skinny Bitches', a take down of Eurocentric beauty standards and body shaming.

Miss Blanks spits her rhymes over a Moonbase beat that features trademark bass and keeps intensity up with brass hits and airhorns. This intensity is exceeded by the rapper herself, who wanted to bite back at "basic bitches that look down on thicc girls yet wanna flex on the ’gram with #thicc #bootygoals" on this track.

As usual she's serving piping hot femme empowerment, directing her vitriol at body shaming skinnier-than-thou females and positioning herself as someone to be valued for not just her hot bod but her sick rhymes as well. She says it best herself, boasting that she's got "big ass, big tits, big brains to boot."

Her incoming EP D.O.A.T (Diary of a Thotaholic) is bound to serve more empowering club anthems on November 16th through Trench Records. But for now you can find Miss Blank's track 'Skinny Bitches' Ft Moonbase on the streaming/downloading service of your choice.
