Live Review: Carmouflage Rose levels up with 'Late Nights' video and Australian tour

20 September 2017 | 10:30 am | Emma Jones

If there's one hip-hop artist that would've popped up on your radar by now, it's CARMOUFLAGE ROSE. The Brisbane rapper has been around for a few years now, focusing his craft on homegrown audiences and sharing the stage with mates MIDAS.GOLDGALLU$GILL BATE$ and more, but now it's his time to shine, and if his single, 'Late Nights' is anything at all to go by, he bloody well knows it too.

The mellow, woozy hip-hop jam has been a breakthrough single on triple J, and has seen him recently go from strength to strength. Not only did he nab a spot on this year's BIGSOUND lineup, since then he's now inked management and booking deals with Cassette Entertainment and Falona respectively, and is set to play at both SPRUNG FESTIVAL and ALISON WONDERLAND's national WONDERLAND SCAREHOUSE PROJECT. Not bloody bad. But, the good news doesn't stop there. Today, he's also shared some brand spankin' new visuals, and has announced his very own national tour.

Finally, 'Late Nights' has been given a video, and it's a beauty. A kaleidoscope of pinks, blues and purples on a party scene of Camo and all his friends (I AM DGILL BATE$MIDAS.GOLD and more) sets the scene, with Rose and his crew dancing and drinking from bottles of henny. It sounds like your standard rap video, but there's something slightly different here - it captures the essence of the song perfectly in all it's slowed down, woozy glory. From images of Rose standing up out of a car's sun roof, speeding along a tunnel, to some intriguing shots of him eating pieces of fruit, Rose's general good vibes are contagious throughout.
