Live Review: Ribongia continues to push boundaries with new single, 'Golden'

6 September 2017 | 7:59 am | Camilla Patini

RIBONGIA continues his run of impressive new music this year with another stellar release! Always one for finding unique vocalists to complement and enhance his rhythmic beats, this time he's teamed up with newcomer OWEN RABBIT for 'Golden'. An exciting, uplifting listen, 'Golden' is full of unexpected beats, clanging percussion, and daring melodies. It’s further proof of this producer’s verve and inventiveness.

Shedding light on the idea behind the track, Ribongia explains:

‘Golden’ is about the Eucalyptus tree. These trees need bush-fires to complete their life cycles. They have evolved to be more flammable because they need fire to die to make space for their seeds to germinate. I saw this as a parable, easing my fear of pain and change. It also serves as a natural, recurring reminder that nothing is immutable, our fate is bound to natural laws and we are stupid if we think we’re in control.

Owen Rabbit’s smooth vocals and Ribongia’s clean production bring this idea to life, creating an experience which sonically surprises at every turn. The track turns down in the very best way possible.
