Live Review: Bus Vipers' 'Fluid' video is as wonderful as it is strange

23 August 2017 | 9:31 am | Jackson Langford

With one of the most raucously fun and deliciously pop chorus we've heard over the past few months, BUS VIPERS, aka Daniel Ahern, is staking its claim as a pop powerhouse with his new track, 'Fluid'. His voice will resonate with fans of Hot Chip, but even those UK greats have yet to show this much fearlessness in a song. 'Fluid' waves and bops incessantly, with alarming distortion flowing beautifully in between Bus Vipers' hazy vocals.

Naturally, a song as fun as this one needs a video to match. It's safe to say that Bus Vipers has more than delivered. With a focus on stark contrast of colour and beautifully strange shots - two folks painted completely in bright scarlet squatting in rockpools, for example - it's a memorable watch to say the least. In fact, it's probably unlike any music video you've seen this year if at all.

This should come as no surprise, considering the powerhouses Bus Vipers collaborated with to achieve this. The video was art-directed by both Prue Stent and Honey Long, who (no biggie) have Gucci on their CV. Their work together often focuses on body, colour and movement - all three of which are showcased to full effect in this music video. The purpose of the video was to display Bus Vipers' hair loss due to his alopecia at age 11 in a new light, and mission accomplished.
