Enrol for Equality all weekend long thanks to Heaps Gay!

In case you’ve been enjoying life under a rock, you’re probably aware that in the coming weeks there will be very important postal vote happening in Australia. The current government feel that modern issues are best solved using ancient methods of communication ie carrier pigeons. If like us you KNOW that it’s time for marriage equality (as 72% of Australians and 91% of young Australians believe) then listen up. Our friends at HEAPS GAY have done some amazing work this week, and activated a stack of some of Sydney’s most loved pubs, clubs, venues and more to make sure that just about everyone they can reach has enrolled or updated their details on the electoral role. This is the Equality Weekender!

Having already kicked off, this initiative will be rolling all weekend long. A startling 14% of young voters aren’t even enrolled to vote so HEAPS GAY have taken it upon themselves to try and change that by putting on this weekender to not only celebrate diversity, but to make it that bit easier for any young voters who aren’t enrolled to have their say on the issue. Everyone’s voice matters.

Happening across various locations in the inner West of Sydney, the Equality Weekender will be taking place across 40 venues, each providing support to enrol, update enrolment details and find out more about why your vote counts.

This weekend (from August 17th to 21st) Heaps Gay are encouraging young people to get down to their local, and show their support for marriage equality. If you have LGBTQIA+ friends be sure to buy them a drink, give them a big hug and be on the BRIGHT side of history. Check out all the venues and events below or on FB here!
