Live Review: Mookhi takes Luke Million's 'Back To The Rhythm' to a stunning new level

14 June 2017 | 7:52 am | Jackson Langford

MOOKHI is not only stating her claim as one to watch; she's making herself known as the one to watch with every stunning release. Her collaboration with Billy Fox, 'Foul Play', is an absolutely gorgeous sonic offering and her Lost & Found EP only cemented her talent. Now, Mookhi has given remixing a crack and - to no-one's surprise - she's absolutely amazing at it.

LUKE MILLION and SAM SPARRO's collaboration 'Back To The Rhythm' is one that is irresistibly funky. From the opening seconds, toes are tapping and heads are bopping. It's just inevitable and something remixes of the song could never take away. Mookhi approached to this smooth, funky jam with the utmost respect as she undertook her first ever remix and she more than well did it justice.

Sam Sparro's distinct, pearly vocals still remain ever-present in Mookhi's take on the track, but the difference lies in how she's warped and spaced the production. By slowing things down just a smidge, and adding sparse echoey synths, the entire track is elevated to a level that only Mookhi could achieve. With her incredibly complex and layered production, she has single handedly taken this #TBT sounding jam and transported it into right now, if not the future.
