Live Review: Synead, Cabo Blanco & Matt FX let us in on some of their biggest influences

26 April 2017 | 8:26 pm | Jackson Langford

SYNEAD is a true revolutionary. With a past including spearheading the Millions March in NYC - a protest against police violence aimed at black men and women in which about 30,000 people rocked up - everything Synead fashions is charged with confidence, fierceness and, perhaps most importantly, a purpose.

With the release of her all-conquering single, 'Tropicao', Synead managed to transfer everything that makes up her being into a 3-and-a-half minute summery banger that is cloaked in bright hues of blue, green and yellow. Every second feels like another step on white sands, looking out onto a crystal clear seascape, thanks to the masterful production of CABO BLANCO and MATT FX.

Now, that holy trinity of artists have blessed us with some of their favourite tracks of the moment, all of them completely reflective of their culture and their fiery passion.

Party Done - Angela Hunte & Machel Montano

Synead - "My two favorite Calypsonians of all time. They just know how to catch the essence of soca. It always leaves me really amped and motivated"

Lijadu Sisters - Come On Home

Matt FX - "Actually a more recent find but a perfect closer to this playlist. Vintage Nigerian pop perfection!!!"
