Live Review: Get lost in a 'Daydream' with Sarsha Simone

4 April 2017 | 9:44 pm | Rosie Rae

Australian artist SARSHA SIMONE has delivered another stirring RnB single 'Daydream,' and we assure you that you won't want to sleep on it. Sarsha broke through with her genre blurring single 'Casualty,' clocking over 400,000 streams and even flying onto BBC radio 1XTRA's radar. Since her first release, Sarsha's only been going from strength to strength with polishing and refining her sound. As someone who's manifested a pretty surreal journey for herself, 'Daydream' is Sarsha Simone's anthem for anyone that has dared to dream.

“Daydream is about having a dream and staying true to that vision despite the doubt that is coming at you from society. I want people to feel empowered to push through the BS when they hear this song,” Sarsha said about her latest release.

Simone draws listeners in with the gentle, warped electronica and sassy, soul drenched vocals. But it's that tight snare and catchy pop hooks in 'Daydream' that really make this tune so infectious. The broken percussion and piano work together to build the drama whilst pushing Sarsha's vocal to the centre stage. The final break down around 3:45 adds a little spice and sass, as the beat speeds up with the introduction of brass and flute.

Sarsha Simone definitely continues to surprise us with her unique and refreshing take on RnB. 'Daydream' is one of two singles that has just dropped from her forthcoming debut EP. We're positively hanging for it...
