Live Review: The funk is back for its "2nd Time Around" with Tuxedo

Tuxedo are back for more and has dropped "2nd Time Around", the exciting first single off their second full-length album Tuxedo II.

A mere few weeks after releasing their nostalgic Fux With The Tux EP, TUXEDO ARE BACK, and with news of a new 11-track album Tuxedo II! The duo decided to announce Tuxedo II around a live performance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show. Introducing this second LP is the aptly named single, “2nd Time Around”.

MAYER HAWTHORNE and JAKE ONE have come together once again in classic style to deliver a funky and tender track plucked right out of the musical highlights of the 70’s and 80’s. Every track thus far has its signature heavy-layered bass lines of guitar and acidic synths and this track continues the tradition. Although the bass plays a major role in the overall soundscape of the track, it wouldn’t be perfect without a prominent horn section adding soulful stabs and fills to complement the soaring vocals of Hawthorne. Jake One’s extraordinary curation and production of countless synthesisers provide the glamour and foundations for the excellence of every other instrument.

As we’ve said before; the funk is well and truly back with these two. If “2nd Time Around” is any basis for judgement for the upcoming album, expect an electronic juggernaut from the boys in the Tux, scheduled to be released March 24.
