Live Review: PREMIERE: Torren Foot has given Ben Remember's 'Can't You See' a powerful rework

28 March 2017 | 1:59 pm | Jackson Langford

From the very opening seconds of TORREN FOOT's remix of BEN REMEMBER's 'Can't You See', we can tell that neither of these artists are here to mess around - play time is over.

Ben Remember's pouncing original is very clearly an homage to the golden era of techno - you know, the songs you think of when you hear the word techno - but, like all contemporary music should, it has been revitalised and repurposed for a new generation. The addition of clanking synths and broken percussion make for a completely new techno listening experience that simultaneously still feels like an instant classic.

Torren Foot has taken that and raised us one. His interpretation of 'Can't You See' is far more of a slow burning one - as slow burning as a techno floorfiller can get - as he focuses on more of a gradual, progressive approach to that monstrous drop. His remix is much more club ready, making any space feel like a small, exclusive underground discotheque. While not as immediately thumping as the original, it hits where it counts with his slightly darker twist that still shines brighter than ever.

Remixing such a monstrous tune was no easy task, but Torren Foot has done so without seeming like he broke a sweat. In the meantime, listening to his remix is gonna make you sweat a lot so just be prepared. This one is a certified banger.
