Live Review: You won't be able to escape Ok Sure and her enticing Anamnesis EP

Ok Sure has released a haunting new EP that you won't be able to switch off.

When you blend Crystal Castles with the sound of Grimes, what do you get? You get elegance, with a pinch of individuality and a scoop of maximalism. So basically, you get OK SURE.

This DJ and producer has us in the palm of her hand. Her music is like nothing else on the scene today and her flavour is just too refreshing to scrimp on. If you're listening to her music, you need to drink as much of it in as possible. Luckily, she's made that a lot easier by releasing an amazing EP called Anamnesis.

This collection of tracks is a theatrical masterpiece. Each song has it's own personality that shines through airy melodies, haunting vocals and intricate samples. The title track is an eerie introduction to the EP with a chorus of vocals hovering over digital synths and sharp samples. The energetic piano drives the track as it continues to build until it explodes into a magenta haze of sound. The second track on the EP, 'Modus' has the same dark atmosphere but is a bit lighter thanks to the vibrant synths that are used. The hard drums act as a fantastic backbone, keeping the melody sounding tight and solid as the song again builds itself up.

'Third Eye' is a magical experience. Blending twinkling samples with airy vocals that hover over deep house synths that burst out of the melody like a dolphin leaping out of water, whilst 'Xylo' is influenced heavily by technology and has veins of digital synths running through its warped melody. 'Don't Piss Me Off (Or I'll Write Songs About You)' is fantastic and I'm not just talking about the awesome name. This is the first track on Anamnesis that has a prominent vocal track. The beat is light but it bounces amongst the airy vocals like a demonised pogo stick ready to pounce at any point.

The EP ends on a high note with 'Insidious'. The vocals are again prominent hanging over chopped synths and hard samples that seem mix together really well to create wonderfully staggered creation.

OK Sure is a completely original artist and her work feels very pure, although it may not sound like it is. Each song has a story to tell and there always seems to be something softer hidden beneath the harsh melodies. Anamnesis is an awesome creation and one creates a crazy new world for us all to explore.
