Live Review: Andrew Weatherall blows up Confidence Man's 'Bubblegum'

On the cusp of CONFIDENCE MAN's UK debut, ANDREW WEATHERALL has lent his legendary touch to the quartet's sass-filled single, 'Bubblegum'. Having recently signed to Heavenly, legendary UK label, Confidence Man are ready to bring their impeccable blend of indie dance and sing-talk shine to the gloomy old United Kingdom.

Already masters of the groove, Confidence Man's beats are gaining quite a lot of respect worldwide. An Andrew Weatherall remix is truly an honour, with Confidence Man (only on their second single) joining a long list of lucky artists such as My Bloody Valentine, Bjork and New Order. With the remix, Weatherall has decided to strip back the youthful exuberance and replace it with a far more mature and developing beat - acid-tinged synth work dominates and Janet Planet's sassy vocals are cut up, with Weatherall focusing heavily on 'I wish I had someone to rub my body on.' It isn't sleazy, it isn't cheap - it's his keen ability to find and explore an attitude. He manages to draw the song out to over 8 minutes, making it a perfect entry for some of the more established club scenes.

Confidence Man are now touring with their trademark confidence across the nation, including multiple solo shows and spots at By The Meadow Festival, Hot Dub Wine Machine and a recently added Townsville Groovin The Moo show. All of this is on top of their upcoming UK shows, with all of the dates below.
