Live Review: Liahona's latest music video is all silhouettes and storytelling

Giving off some very Deathly Hallows vibes, Liahona's music video for 'Kiss Your Favourite Part of Me' is all about silhouettes and storytelling.

Giving off some very Deathly Hallows vibes, LIAHONA's music video for their track 'Kiss Your Favourite Part of Me' is all about silhouettes and storytelling. Coming out of Melbourne, Liahona is the artistic pairing of Harmony Byrne and Josh Delany (of Rat & Co and OCDANTAR). Byrne's deep and luscious vocals are fulfilled by Delany's brooding sonic skills.

Black and white with and a standalone silhouetted body, 'Kiss Your Favourite Part of Me's official video is no elaborate affair. Instead, monochromatics and minimalism are transformed into an enticing art piece.

Minimal instrumental and a strong, pained vocal is a delicious way to begin the track, and it works exceedingly well with the accompanying music video. Before the song gives everything it has, it begins alluringly subtle. And it is then heightened by chopping surround sound. The crashing percussion is erratic, bursting in and cutting out at unexpected moments. The song does not always make sense musically, but that is what makes it all the more fascinating.

The piece feels like an experiment in temptation. "Kiss your favourite part of me": suggestive lyrics are delivered by such a sultry vocal. But this is confronted by the final phrase, "I don't want to kiss your lips, I want to kiss your soul." Perhaps the performance does not exist to tempt, it exists to plea. The figure is not moving its body for anyone but itself.
