Live Review: It's easy to 'Fall In Love' with SVSSY's Goldlink Edit

16 February 2017 | 6:37 pm | Lloyd Crackett

This year, everyone gets to be SVSSY's Valentine as they deliver a warped and wonderful bass-hausy edit of Goldlink's Fall In love.

If you didn’t receive a special something from a special someone this Valentines Day, then SVSSY has got you covered. Prepare to receive a gift of pure love, the production team SVSSY have dished out a whole lotta TLC and re-imagined Goldlink‘s ‘Fall in Love’ into a fabulous bass-hausy tune.

SVSSY are the combined powers of CK and BBG who started the project out of necessity, after the turmoil of Sydney’s strict lockout laws left them high and dry and in desperate need of beats at a house party kick-on at the early hour of 1:30am. Identifying the problem, they became the solution and their genre-bending dance music became the feature of after hours DIY rave caves where no set would be complete without a Vogue dance-off.

Fall in Love (SVSSY Edit) is the exact niche of what SVSSY has to offer, a finely tuned exploration of genres – adhering to no set of rules but the rule of a good time. A good track should always keep you moving and carry you through the night. SVSSY’s edit warps the entire track, breaking down the vocals into segments and scattering them throughout. The track is house inspired, with minimal production in that everything seems entirely necessary, there is definitely a collision of sounds but the excess is appropriate. It’s obviously born out of the rave caves of the lockout-lawed Sydney nightlife, with its dark undertones and Berlin-esque vibes which round it out to be the well-thought out, love-infused Valentines day gift.

SVSSY are one production duo to watch, having learned lessons from the masters (the likes of Mark Ronson, Grimes, Kaytranada, SOPHIE and Elliphant) over a 6 month period of musical exploration, you can tell that they're both serious about their work and seriously fun.
