Live Review: Venture into the wild with Nicola Cruz' 'Danza De Vision'

2 February 2017 | 5:41 pm | Hannah Galvin

South American based artist, Nicola Cruz, entices us with a very wild and tribal environment as depicted in his new single, 'Danza De Vision'.

French-born, Ecuador-based percussionist, NICOLA CRUZ has an incredibly beautiful eye for detail. Gaining a love for electronica early into his career, the artist creates worldly music, and has a real knack for rhythmic value; just listen to his latest track, 'Danza De Vision' for reference.

Like a piece of forgotten debris aimlessly bobbing down a waterway, a rubbery figure holds its shape above the surface of the sea, yet very quickly finds itself in a strange vortex. Different to the nothingness that could be assumed of its journey prior, the item is suddenly met by a tribe of inquisitive beats and a sly piano warrior.

Soon swallowed by the tropical cave as it meets with the ocean's pull, the presence of our nomadic drifter sparks the attention of a larger energy. Gently prodded by the curious natives that look on, the foreigner remains content in its situation, and is soon to become one with such an arena.

Thickening in timbres and native percussive bodies whilst heralding chants from the higher corners of this chamber, the world of our bobbing creature no longer drifts alone, but is engulfed by the peculiar and re-born into the wild.
