Live Review: Matt FX takes Richie Quake for a ride in his 'Hesitate' remix

14 February 2017 | 4:46 pm | Natalie Turner

If you’re unfamiliar with the name MATT FX, check out his debut re-work of Richie Quakes 'Hesitate', featuring LA and New York rappers Yung Skrrt and Mari.

Whether it be the golden co-worker who pumps out a work load you’d only dream of and somehow still having time for that spin class; or a distant Aunt that shows up to the annual family gathering with a pile of gifts and even bigger stack of stories; we’ve all got them, that one person that fills our veins with jealousy, but overpowers that feeling with intrigue and pure admiration.

Well, now you can add another name to the list of that green monster on your shoulder with a debut re-work of RICHIE QUAKE's ‘Hesitate’ from MATT FX. If you’re unfamiliar with the name, you sure won’t be after taking a brief look into his outstanding list of accomplishments.

Beginning as the youngest supervisor in TV and film history, at just 18 Matt FX worked on MTV’s hit series Skins to now curating the music for Comedy Central's Broad City. This lad has an ear for giving the people what they want- see what we mean about jealousy?

Now we’ve received a gift from the musical gods, hand delivered by Matt FX himself. With a little help from LA rapper YUNG SKRRT and NY rapper MARI, the electro-pop masterpiece that Quake released a few months ago has been transported into another dimension of perfected electronic and zesty rap.

The smooth repetitive flow of the two rappers is placed over delicate synth claps, gently woven back and forth in between Quake's catchy chorus. The track has always been a desirable platform of art but somehow Matt FX has raised the pillar it sits upon with its layered compositions and funk-filled beat.

The re-work of ‘Hesitate’ is a commendable debut into the world of producing music and not only highlights his past but shows us a glimpse into his even brighter future. FX is set to release many more solo productions and remixes that’ll keep that green monster full… don’t ‘Hesitate’, just listen.
