Commandeur lists his essentials he must have on tour

24 January 2017 | 9:46 pm | Abbey Lenton

2016 was a stellar year for hard working electronic artist Commandeur, so looking into the new year, he takes us through his tour essentials.

2016 was a stellar year for electronic artist COMMANDEUR. Dropping incredible remixes, playing alongside other artists, performing as part of TKAY MAIDZA's live band, and collaborating with some of the most exciting names in the Australian music scene: Commandeur is one hard working guy!

Naturally, what comes along with a back catalogue of great tunes and a can do attitude is a propensity for life on the road. Fitting life into a carry-on bag is not easy, so Commandeur takes us through his essentials for a busy tour schedule.

The man himself said of touring, "As time goes by, you learn to hone in on the bare essentials of travelling. Especially when you travel with a lot of gear, there's often no room for a checked in luggage bag, meaning you only have carry on..." He went onto say, "When PANAMA did a 6 week US/EU tour in 2015, we could only take carry on luggage. It worked out fine as guys really only have to swap tops to change up a look. The hardest part I find is picking a pair (or two) of shoes that will be versatile enough to last you the whole time. I digress, there's much more than clothes to consider when going on tour.

There's certainly a few things that I can't leave without...

Fisherman's Friends

You could say that I've formed some what of an addiction to those little treats. It was born out of being stuck in a van with people that have real stanky breath. When you spend a lot of time with other people in close proximity, I think it's appreciated when you don't knock the other person out with your breath. Plus there's so many flavours in different countries now that it makes for a fun game to try them all.

My Kindle

In my ever lasting efforts to read more, I always carry my kindle. Especially because touring is mostly spent in transit - so much opportunity to read. Plus, books take up space...

A portable charger

Following on from 'touring is mostly spent in transit', there's only so many games of Bloons that you can play before your phone runs out of battery. Luckily some planes and cars have USB slots in them nowadays, but a portable battery back up is handy.

Ear Plugs

Onto the more practical side of things... Naturally, I'm often surrounded by loud noise and your ears can only take so much before they start to ring and cause (possible long term) problems. Take care of them!!

Liquid Body Wash

Depending on what hotel you're staying in, your options for cleansing may not be the most desirable (Ever come across the ones where it's body wash/shampoo/conditioner all in one???) So I like to take my own from home just incase. It's also hard to transport soap bars from hotel to hotel. Furthermore, it's nice to take as many things from your normal routine as possible to keep you close to home.

Lemsip / Borocca / Hydralite

You never know how your body is going to fare after a few weeks on the road, especially if you partake in the ol' partying. So it's best to have the back ups to keep your system going.

You can catch Commandeur whipping crowds into frenzies at this year's Mountain Sounds Festival at a special new party called "Magic Mountain" on the eve of the main day. Check out details below:
