Live Review: SIDECHAINS have teamed up with Japanese crew BETAPACK for a high-energy collab EP

SIDECHAINS and Japanese crew BETAPACK have just dropped a collaboration EP stacked with heat from BrokenHaze, VENVELLA, Grasps_, and Denzel Sterling.

Sydney stalwarts SIDECHAINS are back once again with new music - this time in the form of a collaborative EP with Japanese crew BETAPACK, featuring tracks from BrokenHaze, VENVELLA, Grasps_, and Denzel Sterling. BETAPACK VS SIDECHAINS isn’t just a drop of fresh club heat, it’s a taste of what’s to come when some of the SIDECHAINS team (Grasps_, Sortagoth, and Denzel Sterling) head to Japan in a few short weeks for a run of shows.

The SIDECHAINS sound you know and love is plastered all over this EP - thumping bass lines, and high energy production coupled with refreshingly creative sampling and nods to old-school video games and synths. It’s this kind of eclectic dance music that’s pushing the Sydney scene forward, built on the back of a regular club night and an highly cultivated aesthetic that’s become a local mainstay.

It’s a sound that aligns well with the dance music and accompanying aesthetic coming out of Japan, so it’s no surprise to see collaborations and tours starting to spring up. Hopefully BETAPACK are able to get out to Australia soon, but in the meantime, you can make do with a free download of the BETAPACK VS SIDECHAINS collaboration EP on Soundcloud.
