Gallus shows us his roar on ‘Lionheart’

GALLUS is a Brisbane rapper who has come out with his latest single ‘Lionheart’, a trap inspired banger of a track that takes rhythmic and melodic elements from rappers in the American south. This track marks the first he has released since 2015 and we were very excited to hear it.

The rapper is comparable to many southern American rappers or for a more local example Midas.Gold, who has worked with Gallus many times before. The track shows off heavy bass kicks with a repetitive piano line that serves as the foundation for the melodic rapping of Gallus. He has an interesting sound here, sounding like he’s almost yelling at points, giving ‘Lionheart’ a powerful element – a certain bravery that comes into play when the subject matter comes to light.

Emotionally heavy lyrics put Gallus on full display. His bravery and power help him talk through coming out the other side of darker days, where his ‘Lionheart’ helped him. Production courtesy of Ealing amps up this emotional aspect, going full throttle right alongside Gallus as he lays it all on the table.

For his comeback release, Gallus has certainly come back with a bang and hopefully he’ll manage to keep this level of quality up for his next batch of releases. We look forward to hearing more soon.
